General Care Discussion :: blinks with one eye

i have noticed today that one of my turtle keeps blinking with one eye. when my turtle looks at me, she opens both her eyes but when she suspects that i am not there, she closes the other (sometimes). it does not seem like its hurting my turtle but then again, im not a turtle. my turtle is acting normally. no lopsided swimming. eats everyday.

*my turtles eye is not swollen, but the eye lid is a little pink. do you think i can use repti turtle sulfa dip?

what would you recommend?

shes not constantly blinking, only when she dives back into the water or comes back out of the water.

So are you saying one eye is constantly blinking? I'd try the Zoo Med Repti Turtle Eye Drops over a Sulfa Dip.

The Zoo Med eye drops are good for mild turtle eye irritation - I've used them before.

If only one eye is affected and there's more than one turtle in the tank, it's possible that the eye has been scratched or poked by another turtle.

Mine does the same thing. He blinks and rubs the left eye frequently, even though I use the Zoo Med Repti drops.

Did you check your UVB light? My turt just has an eye infection due to the strong ray from the new UVB bulb. I was using a reptisun, I have now switched to reptiglo. I was told that reptiglo is much better and reptisun is known to cause "snowblind",

Yep! Put eye drops in both eyes and check your uvb light. Too much uvb will cause eye irritation. When mine have an eye problem I dry dock them for several hours and put drops in their eyes every hour or so. Good Luck! b.
