General Care Discussion :: Egg Time?

My RES Frannie has been splashing around alot and really energetic lately. I figured it was a good sign as she has been eating, alert, getting outside and enjoying sunny days.
Then yesterday as I left I saw she had dug a deep hole in her basking area. When I got home she had covered up the hole like it was never there.
Now shes been hanging out up there and twitching a lot. Mostly with her head. something she used to do alot when out of the water but I havent noticed for a long time. My theory is just irritation from drying off and sand. not too worried but it is strange behavior. I havent seen her eat since the hole digging. she always eats in the water and has been up in the basking area

Did she lay eggs?
If so should I just leave them in there?
Is her basking area sufficient for a turtle whose gravid?

ok to start things off the turtle might have laid eggs. check if there are any. second, if she has laid eggs they might not have anything in them only if their fertilized. so if their not fertilized eggs... theirs nothing in them so just throw them away. and the basking area looks good so far but the goldfish you might have to cut down on since their fatty. but other thank that it looks good to me. make sure shes okay and dig around where she was digging okay?

Dug around and there doesnt seem to be any eggs down there. first time ive ever seen her dig that deep. If there are eggs in there I didnt notice then they are certainly unfertilized.

The goldfish have been in there forever. Shes eaten maybe two this year. I figure it lends to some entertainment value in her limited existence. Plus they eat the food that Frannie misses and gets behind the basking tub.

Anybody have any good ideas to give a solo RES something to do with themselves. She used to punch those golf balls around by biting at them but got bored of that long ago now.

Its too bad I have to keep the tub in there for her. otherwise Id like to construct a raised basking area and give her more room to swim.

One thing would be to give her some plants, maybe a light one that floats. Some turtle enjoy hanging on to or moving around floating plants. I gave mine a plastic and cloth leafy vine. She might enjoy sand, too. I don't know how well sand goes with goldfish, but, if it works okay with the fish then go for it. I think she would enjoy digging around more than she has already. She won't lay eggs under water, I almost certain of that. A turtle favorite is an air stone, they like to sit/float on and bite at the bubbles.

The blue tub is full of sand/mulch mix. thats where I believe she may have laid eggs. theres a spider plant in there too. Ive bought aquatic plants for her, to try and get her to eat veggies. they make a mess. shes very destructive so I dont want to give her anything she can tear apart and eat that shouldnt be in a turtles system. Maybe I will get an air stone. she definitely likes the waterfall from the filter return.

Im thinking about building a bridge for her to get out of the 75 gal shown above, into a 40 gal next to it. fill the 40 with the mix from the tub + more, and make that an exclusive basking area so she can swim throughout the 75.
