or with other turtle(s)? I'm just wondering if I should get another turtle or not. I have a baby RES and he's all alone in his big aquarium. Is it good to have more than 1 turtle or are they more solitary?

RES tend to get aggressive so i think that if you are willing to eventualy get separate tanks... thats up to you.

For now, you should spend your time and effort taking care of the one you have. Turtles, RES especially, are solitary in nature. They don't seek out comfort from other turtles. RES are especially territorial turtles and most have aggression issues. Once your turtle has gotten older (at least past the year mark) and you have gained experience with his care you could consider getting a second one. Keeping in mind all the requirements and possibilities that come with that decision.

The other reason I suggest waiting is because hatchlings are more susceptible to diseases. You would have to quarantine the new turtle (which would have to be another hatchling as you are only supposed to house like sized turtles) for 60-90 days which means you would require another complete setup.

i agree with untsmurf that you should concentrate in taking care of the turtle you have now.
