General Care Discussion :: I just got 2 new baby turtles.. not sure what to do?

I have 1 RES that's about 1 1/2 inches. I just got him about 3 weeks ago. Today my dad brought home two baby turtles from work. He's a construction worker and a chinese couple gave him the turtles because they wanted to "save" them from the chinese market. These turtles are even tinier than the one I had originally. I think they both have a bit of shell rot, and their shells are VERY soft. The lady kept them out on her porch for a few days with no UVB lamp, no food and just a bit of water. I'm afraid to put them in the tank with my other turtle, because he's healthy. I have a Sulfa dip for treatment of bacterial and fungal diseases, should I soak them in that for a while? What else can I do? Thanks.

By the way, they seem to be very active, their eyes look good and they are eating! It's just the shells that I am worried about.

wow my dad was a construction worker too but after his accident he hasn't worked so enough with that.

baby turtles usually have soft shells when their born. they will harden as they grow.

you keep soaking them in that stuff and see if it gets better.

I would suggest you get another set up until they recover. You are on the correct track. Stick to the rules of the road with temp, fiter, temps and lighting. m.

They should be quarantined for a period of 30 to 90 days before adding them with your turtles.
