General Care Discussion :: Nose make a whistle sound

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Ok this is kinda strange so I figured I better ask.

Sometimes recently when momo comes up for air her nose whistles. It's not all the time, I'm thinking it's more when he is worn out from swimming or chasing a fish.

She isn't swimming sideways or anything like that and is eating and everything.
And she did have a strange nose since I got her so maybe it's just another defect.

Thanks for any advice.

If it's usually after exerting herself, then it's probably nothing to worry about. My RES wheeze after they've been swimming hard. My female, who is a bit pudgy, wheezes more than my male.

Just keep a close eye out for any other unusual behaviour.

My female RES will often blow the air out through her nose when she is upset or in an act of defiance. But, most of the time she will come up and beg. I would also just keep an eye on her behavior. I wouldn't worry.
