Post Posted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:19 am   Need help!

My 7 year old turtle fell out the tank and crushed a flowerpot. She looks fine, but shee didint eat anything for a week. Today he tried to swallow a peace of meat, but he couldn't. I dont really know whats happend to her, maybe it hurt somewhere. I tried to feed her granules, but she dont even try to eat them. HELP! :(

How is his behavior otherwise? Swimming, basking, etc?

Did you examine the shell for any cracks, discoloration or odor?

Even if he looks fine on the outside, he might have some internal damage. I would take him to the vet and have an x-ray done just to be safe.
You had him for 7 years......I'm sure after all this time, he's part of your family and deserves the proper care.

Depends on how much your turtle ate before the accident, how active he is and his metabolism. If he isn't moving much then he'll last for a while. He's probably in some trauma. Give him some time and he'll be fine.

What are you feeding him? Veggies? Pellets? Live food?

Try giving him pellets dipped in tuna juice.

Sorry to hear about it. A 7 year old turt should be OK with eating for a week, but try the entice eating page, and other methods -- the jello shot recipe, cat food and holding live food in front of your turtle's face.

If it does appear to be internal injuries or there is no improvement try to seek out vet help or ask the local herp community... http://www.tortoisetrustforum.org/
