My 4 month old turt died today when I got back home. I have two remaining hatchlings...what are the necessary steps to take now? I have already moved & buried my turt...RIP.

I have no idea what happened...it was alive, eating well, basking, etc...and I come back after a long day and it's gone. Sigh.

only abnormality i notice was it sleeping more than usual (not as alert while basking)

guess i just need to move on and hope the best for my remaining two turtles...should I do a full water change? any suggestions? thanks

It could be a deformity it was born with. I had two hatchlings that came from the same clutch of eggs that just died for no reason.
1 Mississippi Map Turtle 3.25'' (Landslide)
1 Ouachita Map Turtle 4.0'' (Hurricane)
The rest of the turtles have been adopted to good homes. :)

Yeah as long as the others are not showing the same symptoms it could just be the turtle its self. I would do prob a 50% water change just incase but i wouldnt go more thne 75% water change...

Sorry to hear you lost him.

I would do a complete water change and cleaning to be on the safe side. The others may or may not be ill, but, if what the deceased one had is contagious, living in water that it peed and pooped in isn't the healthiest. It may take a while for any symptoms to show.
