In a situation where the UVB is not currently over the tank, but available separately, how much time should the turtles be put under the UVB?
I got a new tank with hood and my UVB bulb doesn't fit the fixture. It would be blocked by acrylic anyway. So until I have time/resources to make a Kat the cat proof ATBA, or otherwise make it available all day as it should be somehow, how long should I put them under the UVB daily? I have the UVB in a desk lamp and have been dry docking them in a plastic container under it when I get home from work until they are dry, or until I go to bed.
It seems to hype them up, they make a lot of noise trying to run out. Kat is slowly learning that when mommy has the turtles out, it is not cuddle time, and they are not for him.
I think I may have posted this question in the middle of another thread, but I searched and can't find it now. Sorry if I did.
Hmm, also, do those bar flourescent bulbs give off enough heat for basking? That's what's in there now. It's certainly bright.
