hello.
my red-ear slider has just laid it's 13th batch (IN A ROW).
i don't know why it is constantly laying.
there is a male present but its not in the same enclosure. they probably mated a few times every now and then i let them loose.
is it possible that they have to lay all the time if they mate? or is that seperate on a cycle. i thought they only layed about 3-5 batches a year??
this works out to roughly 1 egg being created a day because she pongs the tank approximately 10 days after laying the last batch, but i only get her
to lay in a pre-dug spot by 14 days time. this is because the spot where she always goes to is heavy of palm root and impossible to dig otherwise..
turtle healthy otherwise. always eating. brisk, swift.
4.5 years old. 9 inches scl.
started laying (for the first time december last year) and won't stop up until now)
please see the following chart for the days and numbers:

and yes, all this is from ONE turtle and one male.
i have a painted turtle but it does not lay as often.
