Sorry guys, i tried search, nothing came close to what i'm gonna ask.

My turtles love to bask, and have absolutely no problem with me standing over them when they bask. my question is, my turtles have an easily accessable baskign are out of water, but they like to bask in the water, is it ok? or should i fix up the basking area so they can get totally out of the water, now, i am gone for 7 hours a day, so i would think they get totally out of water, but they dont when i'm in the room, any suggestions?

Summary if your lazy: they dont like to get totally out of water to bask, is it ok?

No, it's not ok really. If there is a spot where they CAN get totally out and just choose not to, that's fine because I'm sure they will when you're not home. Not providing a completely dry spot is a problem.

yea, they definatlyu have a completely dry spot, but knowing me, i'm worried, so i'm probably doing to find more material to build a new one, one that is fully supported, not floating...

well, after my complete analysis of being outside, in the pooring rain, we had 2" on the ground already.....i spotted a plastic pot on the shelving unit outside, i left it int he rain to get some of the stuff of the inside of it, but i think it should work...it might take up a lot of space though....i thought my aquarium was bigger :(, i guess i'm going to have to go with an above one.....money would help though....

They definitely need to haul their bodies out of the water daily to dry off for many reasons. To get the UVB and to avoid shell rot. Like jenaero said, they are probably doing it when you aren't around :)
