General Care Discussion :: basking time on and off question

My question is ... I get up at different times everyday.... does a RES need a set time for lights to go on and off?.. when I get up I turn them on then at night when it has been 12 hrs I shut them off...
I didn't see anything posted to this nature, also if it goes over the 12 hrs is that a problem?

you really should keep the lights on to mimic the length the sun is out. Of course, this will be different times depending on the seasons... If it goes over a bit it's not a huge deal ..
