General Care Discussion :: White marks on shell (Pictures Included)

My turtle recently started getting white marks on his shell. Sense this picture was taken, the spots have gotten bigger and more white. I tried picking at them a bit and it wont come off.
Is it just shedding, or something else?

The pic I see is rather small...Can you get a closeup of the dry shell?

Just looking at the pic, the white areas look like smaller scutes that look like they're going to come off. But if, as you say, they're growing, a better pic would be helpful.

Don't pick at the shell.
