its repeating again. same with my other name Lot.
Died with the same face and numb / rigid / starched / streched on legs + arms.
same face? means her mouth is open wide like eating something and her eyes is closed.

You know why we learn history? to learn that the bad doesnt repeating again,
so this is. but i need the reason why this is happening again.
i need to know.

So My Diagnoise is.
First off all,
about WATER. the water from "water wells"
its clean and 7.5 PH.
but the problem is CO2 bigger than O2.
and when turtle swims, to the bottom.. they sreaching and hoping for food.
they keep drinking the water and there is no O2.
what happen after that?
They got dizziness / confuse and thats it, they drowning just like that.

thats what my diagnose said.
its happened on this morning, i was shocked.

(is my english gone better or not? improving?)

any other suggestion, freely say it in here, anything is nice for me.

this one is BIG! and have a nice shell. no RI history. i do the dieting like yours.

I don't know about the rest but Co2 in water isn't able to make a turtle dizzy or unconscious. Simply because he's drinking it not breathing it. Even via cloacal respiration he would just absorb the oxygen not the carbon dioxide.
Are you sure there aren't any pollutants in the water?

i already test it with kit. any idea? gosh. if this continuous happen and happen again, my heart will keep feeling guilty.

Hi - I'm really sorry that this happened. Your English is getting better yes - I understand everything you said.

About the turtle, how old was it? what were you feeding it? If you were feeding greens/vegetables, where were you getting them from? Do you have a filter for your tank? o2 in the water shouldn't be a problem because turtles breath air. Maybe you can tell us what your turtle was doing before it died, was it acting strange?

Since we don't know what happened, why don't you try to write down how you do things with the turtle, maybe we can figure out the problem.. for example:
-describe the set up (tank x gallons, heater (yes, no), filter (capacity), etc)
-... I change the water every... (# of days), how much water?
-I feed the turtles (what?, how often)
-then they get out onto their basking platform where I have (what lights?) etc....

So, maybe if you describe your days, what you do and what the turtles do, maybe we can figure it out.

Since we don't know what happened, why don't you try to write down how you do things with the turtle, maybe we can figure out the problem.. for example:

55 gallons and 83 gallons of water. I live in Indonesian, no need heater. the water temp is already high 26 Celcius (sorry no F, because this is asian >.<), about the filter got Sponge, Bio Ball, Bio Ring.
-... I change the water every... (# of days), how much water?
1 Weeks 1 times, 80 percent of the water thrown away from the tank, and added a new 80 persen of water
-I feed the turtles (what?, how often)
i feed them vegetables everyday, sometimes pellet, oh ya! they ate carrot before. they are perfectly healthy.
-then they get out onto their basking platform where I have (what lights?) etc....
UVB 5.0 16w, I need to upgrade it to 32W make it more hotter. reason? fungi is the only one reason.

Need to buy aerator. to make so many good bacterias. and ya also i just read that lacks of O2 make bla bla bla. and then. ya.

if my diagnose is wrong

then what can kill and drown turtles?
yakub already old but seems not very old. he has nice shell. no rot. 10 years already with us. (7 years with my brother, 3 years with me). My Brother gave this to me.



maybe in the past. when my brother pet it, he dont know this site, and just learn how to pet this turtle from salesman (who sell this turtle).

but again. What can Cause DROWNING!? if there is 100000 reason, then this one. what can cause drowning? what i think is, Turtle get confuse, He Drinks a lot of Co2 in water. and that CO2 goes to it brain, and make them feel dizzy and numb so that they cant swim. after they drink it.
because water has their own effect to turtles. example Cholorine will make bla bla bla.
how about lacks of Oxygen?

I am sorry for your loss James.
I do think your English is getting better. I understand what you are saying about the CO2 and the Oxygen in the water, but that should not matter for a turtle. A fish that uses gills to get Oxygen out of the water could die if there was not enough Oxygen in the water, but a turtle breaths Oxygen from the air like you or I. Just like you or I, he can swim in the water and can drink the water, but he comes to the surface to breath and he does not get his Oxygen from the water the way a fish does.
I don't know why your turtle died. It's sounds like you are trying your best, and it might not have been anything you did. I only noticed two possible issues with your set up. Do you only have a UVB bulb and not a heat bulb? Do you know what temperature your basking spot is? you may need to warm up the basking spot. You may also want to consider adding a water heater to your tank as well, even though is your climate is not cold. It may help keep the temperatures constant. Frequent temperature changes can be unhealthy. I hope you find out and I hope you have better luck in the future. And again, I am sorry for your loss.
