i recently got a painted turtle how do i know if hes a eatern or midland painted turtle

The simple way to tell is look at the bottom of its shell. If it insnt pure yellow it isnt an Eastern though it can have 1 tiny black spot sometimes in the middle. Midlands have a black pattern on the bottom of their shell that extends to edge. Other ways to tell but im keeping it simple for you.
