What should I do?
I dont have a Filter and clean the 20 gallon tank half way every other day.
The RES is 5 months old and female, and it's "makings" are about an inch long aand as thin as a mini prezel stick.

Lost my appetite for steak after I witnessed the event.

uhh, I think it's kind of unavoidable. They're weird like that. One of my turtles ignores pellets and eats the poo of the other turtles after they've eaten pellets. I guess she likes them processed.

Animals do that. I think turtles and animals have little taste buds since I heard from somebody on the forums that pellets have very little flavor. I've seen my goldfish and oscar eat their makings before. It's a natural thing, don't worry.

Haven't seen my turtles do that but that doesn't mean they haven't.. It's normal, just don't look at them when they're doing it. haha

You can sometimes anticipate when they'll poop... like 5, 10, 15 minutes after eating. If so, just scoop it out then.

Please don't ingore but I have said this before, turtle do eat their on poo. And there is nothing you can do! I think about this when someone mentions kissing their little turtle. Don't do it. Ha

My turtle's would sometimes eat their own poop when they were small. They seemed to outgrow it as they grew.

It's impossible to tell sex of a turtle at 5 months unless it was temperature incubated. Your turtle is either older or seems like a female since all sub-adult turtles do until they reach sexual maturity.

With that said. Turtles eat their excrement because they don't fully digest food. That means that not ALL the poop, is poop lol.

My RES eats his poop sometimes, I usually just scoop it out if I ever see him poop.

Are you serious? You wrote that you seriously like turtles, so I would hope you can put up with an activity that's less than appealing. The enjoyment that turtles provide far outweighs eating poop. Did you know that dogs sometimes eat excrement?

You could try to prevent having to see him do this by netting out the poop as soon as you see it. Sometimes captive turtles will do this because they have nothing else to do and are attracted by the smell. As I said above, my turtles tended to do this when they were small, but pretty much stopped as they grew (leaving me with more to clean

). Yours may do the same.

If it's really a bother to you give your turtle away, But it's completely normal and I don't see how that would make you want to give him away, is your stomach really that weak?

Well, Shin: maybe you should have done a little more research before you got this far with your turtles. The only thing that I can think of is to have a much larger filter so the water swirls enough to make it harder to get and suck it up. Good Luck!!

Please don't give your turtle way just because you cant stand him being his curious self! Each species does something less than apealing. Actually the species that do the most disgusting things are humans
