A local turtle forum in my country gave me a suggestion for using Acriflavine to cure Kroten's fungus problem.

Kroten just developed fungus that grows under her scute ... she always has problem with her carapace. They told me to use anti-fungus for fish (acriflavine) inside Kroten's tank. Is that okay?

I've used acriflavine for skin issues with some turtles i've had in the past.It tints the water orange and pretty much anything in the tank, but it did help the turtle.

Yes it changes the water's color but Her health is more important than that.

I was waiting for a shed scute that was infected to test acriflavine, there's a topic with james that I mentioned it. Anyway, let us know the results!

Do you know why Kroten can get infected easily? (while Kame has no problem at all) Is being a morph make it easier to get shell infection?

Note: Kame is a normal RES and Kroten is a morph RES

Perhaps Kame basks more than Kroten, which would allow more opportunity for the shell to dry off.

Yes, she would walk around dry. I couldn't find Sulfadyne (will continue searching it), but I give her Miconazole Nitrate (human's fungus ointment) while she is out.

Kame and Kroten live in separate tanks next to each other. They can't be together because although Kroten is smaller, she is very vicious, she likes to bite Kame.

I pay a lot of attention on them and notice that Kroten does swim more than Kame.

Be careful with the Miconazole. I once tried a fungus ointment with that drug in the name, and the turtle's shell started to look like it had frosting on it...

di indo, Sulfadyne itu burnazin nama obatnya. bentuknya salep.
dapet di beli di apotik apotik terdekat dimana saja, dari sampurna, dll.
seharga 40.000-50.000 rupiah.
aku baru tau ini aja di reptilx

namanya burnazin.


kura-kura dilap untuk dikeringkan terlebih dahulu, lalu oleskan betadine pada bagian yang terkena jamur. diamkan dan tunggu betadine tersebut kering selama 15 menit. setelah itu baru oleskan krim burnazin pada bagian yang telah dibetadine sebelumnya, oleskan agak tebal.

metode yang dipakai dalam pengobatan menggunakan silver sulphadiazine adalah metode dry dock. dry dock = kura-kura dibiarkan dalam kondisi kering untuk periode 10-12 jam baru dimasukkan ke dalam air lagi untuk periode waktu 1/2 - 1 jam. saat kura dimasukkan ke dalam air ini anda bisa memberikan makanan kepada kura anda, dengan catatan makanan yg tidak termakan setelah 15 menit harus segera diangkat. pemberian air ini untuk menjaga agar kura-kura tidak dehidrasi. setelah beberapa waktu kura dikeringkan kembali dan pengobatan diulang sampai muncul lapisan kulit baru. penting untuk diingat, pastikan munculnya lapisan kulit baru sebagai tanda pemulihan lapisan kulit yg terserang jamur sebelum anda menghentikan pengobatan. Jaga kualitas air untuk memastikan jamur tidak berkembang lagi.

metode pengobatan dengan menggunakan silver sulphadiazine merupakan salah satu opsi pengobatan yang tersedia diantara sekian banyak metode pengobatan lain. salah satu bentuk pengobatan jamur lainnya adalah dengan menggunakan acriflavine seperti yg dijabarkan oleh duniaturtle di atas.


@ss.darma: betul, silver sulphadiazine digunakan dalam pengobatan shell rot dan digunakan juga dalam pengobatan luka pada kura-kura.
