General Care Discussion :: Help Turtle

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So my Sisters friend was going off to college and they couldn't bring any pets. She had a red eared slider and we were able to talk my dad into letting me keep it. I've never had a turtle before, or any aquatic pets other then a fish. Instinctively i knew that the girl was not taking care of her turtle. She didnt seem to feed it enough and the turtles container was way too small. So after I took the turtle in I got it a new tank, a filter, a floating dock and some good food. Everything was going fine until we moved houses, not far but I think its essential.

We moved houses and we've been here for almost a month now. My turtle hasnt eaten in probably over a week if not more and it is really starting to worry me. He is always sleeping and always spazzes out when I walk in the room. He use to just watch me and come toward me when I would walk in. I was wondering if there was some reason he has stopped eating and something I can do to help. It may seem strange but I've grown attached to him and I really don't want to wake up to find him starved, even when Ive been feeding him.

Is his setup kept the same way? Is there a submersible water heater for the tank? What does his normal diet consist of?
