General Care Discussion :: Still worms...what to do??

Ive had this issue now for about 4 months! I noticed they had worms in their feces. White, C shaped, very thin. I took turtles right to the vet but couldnt do a stool sample due to bad sample. She gave me panacur to give them. I did...Worms came back shortly after. I then gave them the anti parasite food and they passed a bunch of worms. I thought I got rid of them but then they showed up again. I took a very good stool sample to be tested and it was negative. Worms are still here! Some big about an inch and a half but then others are about half an inch. Does anyone know what type these could be? I even took a worm in a baggie to vet and she didnt know. Im going crazy! Water temp is good, basking temp is good. I clean the tank constantly! Everytime they go poop I clean it right out. Any info would be great!

Maybe I need to separate them and then treat them?? Im wondering if they just keep passing them along to each other...

that would be a good idea. I dont really know what to do but separating them into separate "hospital" tanks is what most people usually do. try not to feed them any thing other then the meds you have been feeding them, the special foods or what ever you have for them and maybe some greens. also when ever you see the worms just clean them out that way the turtles dont just eat them.

Do you know if there is a identification chart anywhere so I can try to find out what type they are? They appear to be roundworms but I dont know...I just want to make sure this is nothing that can get passed to me while Im cleaning them.

Not only should they be separated into the hospital tanks as Sinister mentioned, the tank where you have been seeing the problem, needs to be thoroughly cleaned and all of the water changed, so it does not come back again.

I think I would use a different vet to examine any samples. I don't think she should have given you any meds without confirming what type of worms they were and knowing the severity of the infection.

As for the worms, are you sure they're not in the tank and are attracted to the waste? Any fish in the tank? Substrate?
