Hi all, very close to getting my 6x2x2 tank, was wondering whats the BEST filtration for it? Sump and weir? Thanks.

That's a 180 gallon tank. For turtles I think you will find a large canister filter like the Fluval FX5 better than a sump. Turtles are very messy and a large canister filter offers a large amount of mechanical filtration and biological filtration.

Also, if you do a sump with an overflow, you won't capture much of the debris as turtle waste, food particles, etc generally sinks to the bottom. Surface skimming with an overflow unfortunately doesn't buy you much in the freshwater turtle world.

Find me on the reef forums and I'd tell you just the opposite for a reef setup.

The FX5 would be a good choice as it has a large gph. The minimum would be a five time volume exchange per hour. Most filters are sized using filtration for fish. Turtles need a large water exchange. Good Luck!
