It seems today is the day I get my RES! Any quick tips on things I need to take care of as soon as I get him?

Just make sure you give your turtle some space. They take a little while to adjust to their new home. So don't worry if he seems a little off for a bit. Just let him be:) Congrats on getting your turt! Pictures please!

When you get your new turtle you may have a tendency to want to pick him up a lot. I would suggest that you not because being a cold blooded reptile their temp changes quickley and that is not good for them. If he is small you may want to have the water
temp. a little higher than a adult. Maybe 78 or 79 will be fine. Get your basking area at about 90 to 91 degrees with a uvb light. If you need any more help there are a lot of keepers here who will be glad to help. Make sure you filter is large enough as turtles poo a lot more than fish. - Good Luck!

Ah thanks. I have two filters, one for a 60 gallon tank, and one for a forty gallon tank, both filtering at the same time, and it's a 55 gallon, so I think I'll be fine ^^
