he/she JUST reached 4 inches in length. My turtle is only about 6-7 months old. Im suspecting it is a female because the claws should be longer at this point...

You're RES is rather large for being only 6 - 7 mos. old. It's quite possible that she's older.

nope, I got her when she was bright green and about one inch long in July from some street in NYC china town.

She is large for her age. The jaggedness of the marginals and the curling (the edge) are signs of fast growth or improper diet. What do you feed her and how often?

I give her pellets every day and every other day dry shrimp with half the amount of pellets. Before in her life she lived with my gf and was indeed overfed due to her parents constantly feeding the turtle.

I'd skip the shrimp and introduce some veggies into the diet.
