General Care Discussion :: Is any dechlorinator okay?

I usually have seachum prime for my aquariums...occasionally something diff if I couldn't get prime..will this work for RES as well?

You actually do not need to use Dechlorinator's for your turtles...Fish You do but turtles are very good when it comes to tap water. What most people do is clean the tank, let the water sit for about 30 min to a hour and put your turtles back in and they will be great. also, water Dechlorinates its self after sitting for 24 hours.

Anything that is safe for freshwater aquariums should be safe for your RES. RES are much hardier than fish

I know not everyone is using it for their turts but it seems as though it would be necesary to keep the bio filter alive, because chlorine/chloramines kills the bacteria that eats the ammonia. Or at least that is my understanding. Also I have read to never rinse a filter cart in tap water that hasn't been dechlorinated because it weakens the carbon...not positive if there's truth to that. Also if you let it sit, chlorine will evap. but chloramines will not. I don't know I guess I just feel more compfortable using a dechlorinator
