General Care Discussion :: One not letting the other bask......

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hi, I have two Red Eared Sliders. Henrik and Ruby. We got both at the same time. They are about a year and a half old. Henrik is bigger than ruby and lately has been biting at rubys feet when she is basking, or chasing her off the basking site. Ive created a second basking platform thinking one turlte can be on one and the other can be on the second one. But it seems that no matter where ruby goes up, Henrik will bother her until she goes back into the water. Is this normal? Will this be a problem for her health? and is there anything I can do? Thank you very much!

If one is being aggressive, you will need to separate them. Even on small basking areas, turtles can and will stack to bask. A larger basking area and tank might help, but once aggression emerges, it usually doesn't go away.

They can really hurt each other too... it could even be fatal the bigger they get. Id seperate them asap.
