General Care Discussion :: Is this normal on their shell?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

When I took Red out of his tank today and I gave him his usual rub on the shell, this film around his shell started to kinda peel off. His tank is always so clean, I was just wondering if this is normal or should I maybe get a extra soft toothbrush and gently brush his shell? What do you all recommend and is this normal? It's not all over his shell just where the arrow is on the picture.

Does it peel off like a thin transparent sheet? Can you get a picture close up with the turtle dry? It looks like it might be shedding.

Yeah it's like a thin transparent sheet, it was basically the same dry. Is this normal though?

Sometimes when scutes shed they shed transparent like a thin finger nail. Does it look and feel like that? You can gently scrub your turtles shell with a toothbrush and water. Some slime on a turtles shell is normal and so is shedding scutes.
