Hi all, I want to treat my turtle's fungus problem thats on his shell.
I owned him since january 2011.
hes about 4 inches.
he lives in a 50 gallons tank.
i can see white things on his carapace, but i cant clean it off with a toothbrush. It's visible even when he is dry.
I want to use acriflavine to treat his fungus. but I cant find any local pet stores or online website that sells them.
I live in canada montreal nearby downtown.
I found a product thats called rid fungus from gordon. It's a product for fishes (amazon)
http://www.amazon.ca/Kordon-Rid-Fungus-4oz/dp/B004PBGB5S/ref=sr_1_3?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1311557694&sr=1-3
and these tablets that contains acriflavine
http://www.amazon.ca/Jungle-Labs-Fungus-Clear-Tab/dp/B004PBCFO4/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1311558128&sr=1-2
I was wondering, even if they are fish products, will they work on turtle fungus? thx.

Kordon Acriflavine shouldn't be hard to find... here's a link from Big Al's: http://www.bigalsonline.ca/Fish_Health- ... tc=default

I don't know if the one from the first link or the acriflavine will work on turtle shell fungus. The second product is a definite no as your turtle will likely eat parts of it.

As you might know, the most effective treatment is silver sulfadiazine cream. A lot of people are also using Maroxy for skin fungus, I do not know if it is effective against shell fungus.

The top link from Amazon is sold by Big Al's... and the link I posted is from their Canadian site. Since this a product mainly for fish, I think most aquarium stores will carry it.
