Hey i was wondering just how long it takes a RES to grow one inch? I Know things depend on the condintions but could someone give me a raw estimate becausei see people that have foot long RESS yet have only had thm for a year and a half my turtle is abut that age and still 1 inch PLEASE help i want a bigger tutrle and i know he will be healthier

A year and a half old turtle should never be a foot long, if it is, it's probably not in the best of shape since it was overly fed protein. Turtles all grow at different paces as long as yours is healthy and not being overfed it's size is where it needs to be. Very fast growing turtles, that are overfed protein tend to have shell deformities because of their quick growth. Slow and steady growth is how you want your turtle to be.

Just to give you a idea, my turtle hatched in Nov of 09. He is barely 3 in. And he looks very healthy. He is almost 2 years old and will probably be less than 3 inches when he hits he 2 yr bday.

I agree. Mine were about an inch a year. They are 10 years at 10 inches now.

I have had my turtle for 2 and a half years, he has grown almost 2 inches. :)

My RES grew about an inch in 2 months because I overfed. I've learned that lesson and educated myself and now he appears to have slowed down growth a LOT. Such a little piglet though. Always begging and snarfs food down in seconds. lol
