General Care Discussion :: Giving Away Peanut Today!

Hey guys Im giving away peanut today. This morning when I was feeding them peanut didnt want butter to have any of the food and bit his foot and pulled him down as soon as I saw that I screamed bloody murder. And then with in 5-10 seconds they stopped and I saw butter swimming away kinda funny and i took out peanut and put him in a temp set up until someone can pick him up. Right now someone is on there way to pick him up. They have a 55 gallon tank that Peanut will have all to him/her self. Im taking butter to the vet tomarrow morning so I will keep you updated on his/her status.

Did you ever consider feeding them separately? A 55 gallon tank alone doesn't necessarily ensure a proper set up.

for one turtle should be fine for a while. Yea i tried but they only eat if they are in the tank

Sorry to hear it. They only have 4 claws on their rear feet.

Leave the one you're feeding in the tank and take out the one who already ate or is next.

You really should have tried separating them for feedings before just hastily giving Peanut away. Or just kept one turt in the first place... Things like aggression are something we tried to warn you about when you decided to "add a buddy." It's your decision though and nothing is wrong for that. I just worry how much stress on the turts will affect their health (relocating turts to new homes constantly can be stressful on them, I'm sure).

I really hope that the person Peanut is going to knows what they are doing. Good luck.

yea they do and i told them if they need any help to call me. Peanut will have a 55 gallon tank all to him self. Butter is doing better now. Thank god hes not hurt hes swimming fine hes eating and basking. I tried seperating them but they wont eat unless they are in their tank.

me too. I was going to take him to the vet but when I check on butter I couldnt even tell where peanut bit him. I could tell right after it happened but cant tell now. hes swimming fine hes eating hes basking , so im just going to watch him and if anything doesnt seem right ill rush him to the vet.

This happened only once with my turtles. A piece of food was near the other ones foot and I think it misjudged what it was eating and accidentally bit the other turtles foot. No damage was done and I've never seen it happen again. It may have just been a mistake...
