Does anyone have a picture of what the perfect RES is supposed to look like?

Captive or Wild.

I'm interested in the skin color, skin condition, shell color, and shell condition.

Thank you

An adult RES if possible please :)

My RES was very pale before I found this site. Now I'm seeing more vibrant colors. And she is shedding more now.

I don't want to show any pictures quite yet...until she looks a little better :)

Depending what you looking at you might be looking at different color phases. Res that was breed to have bright colors or crazy colors like a pastal.
Heres mine.
Standard coloring.

These pictures are perfect! Thank you!

WOW! Those are nice turtles!

They have no...

- No pyramid.
- No hard water spots.
- No fungus.
- No algae.
- No dents on the shell.

It also looks like your turtles are shedding evenly.

Thank you for the close up of the head and claw. They really show details in the color.

I'm guessing these guys don't eat pellets too often? What pellets do you use?
How often do you feed them veggies? What types of veggies?

Could be turning melanistic, gets blacks dots on skin and slowly skin darkens till its completely black. You would have to post pics.

Aslo np, stopgaming. I had those photos and it sounded exactly like what you wanted. My turtles always shed perfect. I give my thanks to that to the sun. I keep my turtle outside spring-fall. I even hibernated them last year. I notice much better shell health when turtle go from inside to outside.

I Wish Kingler was perfect. I had her for years before I found this website so her shell grew in a weird way, though it is perfectly smooth. lol

Maybe from the years without UVB.

Here's what a wild RES looks like.

Is a smooth shell alright? Wasabi's is very smooth. A lot like you turtle's shell, Linus. She looks gorgeous! I would certainly guess she was a prime example of a healthy turtle!

The second picture I posted is of a wild RES. See how the shell is perfect, that because the food they eat is better and they don't get overfed. That look is almost impossible to replicate. Diamondbacks4Life is basically the closest to wild you can get!

Linus,

Is the first picture your turtle (Kingler)?

That red mark is very bright and bold. I am curious to see her diet.

Yep.

Reptomin most of the time. Lettuce, fish, water lettuce, anacharis, water hyacinth and duckweed when available.
