General Care Discussion :: White cotton like substance from the mouth

I have a RES about an inch and a half, recovering from a respiratory infection with this cotton like skin hanging outside of its mouth.

I took Yoshi to the vet for his RI about two weeks ago and was given injections to perform every 3 days. He hasn't been eating for a little over two weeks but yesterday he had a bite. Also today he had 3 bites, literally bites. (I'm currently feeding him pellets) I got excited when he ate and went up close to take a look and noticed this white-cotton like skin hanging from his mouth. I took a q-tip and swabbed it off and now I'm seeing it more often. I'm not sure what it is but I'm hoping you guys can help me find out.



His environment consists of:
10 Gallon tank
Water Heater
Water Filter
Basking Dock (very easy to climb)
Fake Plants
Cuttle Bone
A Ship Like Decoration

UVB Lighting
Heat Lamp

Mucus is a symptom of RI. Mucus can also be seen if your RES has been out of water for awhile, like basking or dry docked. Has he been getting better?

Yeah he's getting much better now. He's swimming more and basking as usual. His head isn't always above the water as it used to be when he was ill. I'm assuming I won't be seeing anymore of the mucus after hes fully recovered?

You might see it right after he goes into the water (if he was to be out for a long time). It could also be loose skin, which is an indication of warm/poor water conditions.
