General Care Discussion :: Snapping noise

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My turtle used to live with another one, and we separated them (gave one away) due to fighting. Now he opens his mouth a lot, and it makes a clicking noise. Is this a normal sound? He does it all the time, seems to be healthy, but it's weird he started doing that when he started living solo.

Penelope was doing that for a while at night...every time I would go to look, she would stop - don't know if it's the same thing you are hearing. When Penelope did it, it was like she was snapping her beak.
At first I thought she was doing it because she couldn't breathe well, but her RI cleared up and she still does it every now and then.
I'm curious too.

I don't think it happens often, so it might just be a phase. Keep an eye out for any other symptoms.
