General Care Discussion :: Introducing a new adult turtle

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have a hand raised male that I sucessfully introduced into a 5000 gal outdoor pond several years ago. He shares the pond with 12 Koi. I have come across another hand raised female who was left at a local pet store because she has outgrown her aquarium. Both are about the same size. Can I introduce her to the pond with the adult male? Will he protect his territory and fight? I don't want to risk injury to either tutle. Thoughts? Experience?

FYI both turtles are about 8"

Thanks,

Tim

Hi, welcome to site! You can just try it and see how it goes, hopefully the two will get along. However, you should have a plan to rehome one or return her.
