General Care Discussion :: Signs of Pyramiding??

I have had this hatchling for almost 8 months now.. His SCL is almost 2 inches .. I am pretty sure there are signs of pyramiding on his shell although i figured i need an opinion from a more experienced keeper. He is fine and healthy and feeds voraciously whenever fed. I have been feeding him turtle pellets everyday , amount being as much as it would fit in his head. He wouldnt eat any veggies or anything else so i continued with the pellets as he is a hatching although i feed him guppies ocassionally. He swims around well, basks well and seems healthy.

He had a major respiratory infection almost 2 months ago and he stopped eating for almost 3 weeks when he was on a ceftazidime antibiotic therapy. He recovered after almost a month and has since then stopped growing visisbly considering he grew pretty quickly until the RI. His apetitie right now is good. Is this signs of pyramiding ? What can i do about the diet ? He wont eat anything that is not protein..

The large black lines between the scutes are a sign of overfeeding. I'd cut back. The rule is about the size of their head or the amount of pellets that could fit in their mouth in one big bite every other day when young and less when older. Fish, treats should be kept to a minimum maybe once a week at most. Veggies can supliment pellets for some feedings.

So feeding the turtle pellets every other day is cool even he is under a year old ? Every other day n not everyday ?
Anyway i can coax the turtles to eat veggies ? They just wont touch em no matter what.

Get a food clip at the pet store and just start hanging up some red leaf or green leaf lettuce. He will start nibbling on the the days your not feeding him pellets. Mine is roughly 7 to 8 months old and still won't eat anything but lettuce and pellets. I hope one day he will at least taste a grape or cucumber skin, etc.

I have tried to put in tiny pieces of cantaloupe, bell pepper, cooked sweet potatoes, squash... She wouldn't even try it, but occasionally I still put pieces in there when I have it to see if her tastes have changed any.

Last night I put a top leafy part of a carrot... Nada.. Just took it out per usual and threw it away.
