General Care Discussion :: Itchy shell?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I've noticed that one of my baby turtles is trying to scratch his shell by rubbing against the basking rock.
Could his shell feel itchy?
Should I be concerned about this?

Thats normal and yes it does. While the scutes are getting reading to shed it may feel itchy to them and they will rub against things. My turtle love to wedge themselves under the drift and rub back and forth. There are plenty of good videos on youtube of people scratching their turtles shells and them going wild also they may just simply like it.

Thanks a lot for the reply! And that's good to know.
Initially, I thought that my poor turtle was stuck under the rock and couldn't get out. And then I thought maybe there's something wrong with it hence the itching.
I also found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWZRGZInJkw
It's so cute. Also, it's an RES and not a tortoise as the title says.
