General Care Discussion :: Reptoguard Recall?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hello all,

Today while at my local PetCo I was looking for Reptoguard and when I couldn't find it I asked for help. The lady that appeared to work in the fish section didn't know if they carried it. She then turned and search for a gentleman that also works in the store if he could help me. The man told me I was out of luck and that they used to sell them but for some reason Petco pulled it off the shelves mentioning something to the effect of it being recalled.

Anyone know of such a recall? I googled "Reptoguard Recall" but the results do not seem to confirm it. Or is this guy just BS'ing me?

Thanks in advance for reading/answering my question.

Have not heard of it and it's still sold at major pet store websites, including Petco. I wouldn't use that or other medicated blocks anyway.

Oh OK. Is there a reason not to use? Is it bad for them?

Thanks

There is a lot of unknowns about it, plus we don't like the idea of continually releasing medication into the water since that creates resistance.
