General Care Discussion :: New Owner Help!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Fri Jun 28, 2013 5:23 pm   New Owner Help!

I just "inherited" a RES from a friend who was leaving the country. I read up on turtle care before adopting, so I know all that turtle ownership entails. Shelly has lived in a classroom her entire life, and moved to my house yesterday. Her previous owner gave me all equipment she had, and never had any issues with Shelly. Today, she has been seeming very lethargic (I think...I have read how they are very active, and she has spent a good portion of the day underwater, not really swimming.) Is this typical after a big move, or should I start looking into other alternatives as to what may be causing this.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! Did you also get a water heater and thermometer from your friend? Do you know what the water temperatures are? What have you been trying to feed her? I would think that it could take a couple of days for your RES to get used to her new home.
