I have 2-3" RES. over the past couple weeks one of them has stopped diving and lays basking nearly all day. And suggestions as to the cause of this?? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Take a picture of your setup. What do you use to treat the water? What else do the turtles do?
Turtles:
Dexter (RES)
Shelby (RES - gone and I feel really really bad).
Miracle (Box Turtle - Given to me after Shelby left us).
Orion (Mississippi Map Turtle).

I'll take a pic soon as I'm home, I work out of town a lot. I have a 55 gal, 60 gal filter, gravel substrate, I'm not sure if its a UVB or regular heat lamp, water is heated 78-80°. I treat with the slow release conditioner in the shape of a turtle ( drop in tank and it dissolves, it's white). Diet is the turtle floating sticks and feeder fish & ghost shrimp when they catch em. The other turtle has shown no changes and continues normal activities. The sick one basks nearly all day and his shell looks real dry while basking. Like if it wants to start flaking is the best way I could describe it.

Possibly shedding. Did you try to take him to a vet?

No I haven't tried a vet yet. I was hoping for some helpful advice before it came to that. Thank you for any advice or tips you may have.

One is eating regularly, gets excited just by me opening the screen top. The other eats, just not nearly as much. Won't chase live food.

Is the other one eating the other's share of food? Are you able to tell the genders yet? Any aggression in the tank?

The sick will will eat a small amount, there's still some left when it stops. No aggression in the tank. I can't tell sex yet, each one is just over 2" in shell.

I would separate them, and bump up the water temperature of the sick one to 82F.
