My RES keeps rubbing his top shell hard against the bottom of the water intake for my fluval306. Almost like it itches. Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. I think she is trying to scrape off the scutes.

Just make sure the intake (or heater, platform, etc) is still secured properly.
