General Care Discussion :: Unsure of what to do!

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hello all :) about a month ago i got a red ear slider female 4in. i checked her over making sure she was in good health before adopting her. today i woke up and fed her normally like everyday and today she poked her head out of the water so i gave her a small treat as a "well done!". I noticed after a hour this clumpy yellow-ish substance in the water and i became aware that it wasn't what her poop was looking like so far. I was wondering (since this is my first turtle and i want her healthy and happy as can be) what to do with these symptoms. or if its just her way of still slowly getting use to her new home.

-the yellowish mysterious stuff
-her top shell is starting to turn a greenish-brown color with what looks like red "painted" on look. (but shes a red ear slider so unless shes a hybrid..)
-isnt basking very much (i dont see her at all but every few days ill notice some of the substrate in the water. I have a Zoo Med Aquatic Turtle Tub Kit. Water and basking temperatures are were they need to be as well)
-doesnt really swim more of crawls back and forth.

Thank you all for ANY advice. Im a new pet "parent" and i want to make sure she's ok before running around scared spending money on a vet

Can you post a pic of the shell? And the basking area? What is the texture/smell/tackiness of the yellow stuff? How much of it was there?

not the much maybe a quarter to a half of a penny of "how much stuff", i haven't smelled it but it looks like REALLY soggy bread that can easily break apart/dissolve. Ill figure out how to put pictures on here so pictures might take a day or two.

UPDATE ON YELLOW: would it be yellow because i fed her a teeny tiny piece of banana? (i give her the aquatic turtle food pellets but was wondering what else she might like because there is more of the yellow stuff but i havent fed her except for that one time this morning.

So it's happened twice? I'm not sure what it could be and I doubt it was from the banana. Are you sure it was pooped out?

not entirely sure which end it came out: mouth or pooped out. each time i noticed it, it was already in the tank and it happened a third time today about an hour ago.

Hello i called the petsmart i got her from and they said i could bring her in (with pictures of the tank) and i could get a free check over. so i did and it turned out there was a crack on her shell that i didnt even see and she obtained shell rot. then from my balling out eyes they gave me a new healthy turtle and a lily pad and put her in a new tank to help her heal and become healthy again. Its heart breaking sayiing goodbye to her but it was for a good cause that she can be treated hopefully (it dug way down deep) and a new family will take great care of her. i hope once my painted turtle gets settled in his new freshly cleaned home he will be just as energetic as her.

I am a bit skeptical about the crack (many scutes partially break off and could look like a crack), but I hope they're doing the right thing.
