General Care Discussion :: Basking with neck extended laying flat

Our four year old slider is about 8-9". When she basks sometimes she has her head completely extended but resting flat on the dock. Her eyes are closed so I assume she is sleeping. This is new behavior. Is this normal or something to worry about? Is this a sign of illness. She seems pretty healthy otherwise. Seems like in nature this would make her very vulnerable.

Stretching out is pretty normal... just adjusting how much and where she gets warmed up. My RES usually have their rears closest to their basking lights. In the wild, they are usually very alert to their surroundings.
