My biggest RES Evergreen is 2yrs 9mth. He has a patch of red on his left leg and it's ringed with white. I'm 90% sure it's a wound but he's very lively and is very normal. He's eating like he used to. How should I get him to get his leg out so I can see and how do I treat it? Also, my red-bellied turtle Hermes' tail is tipped with white and my dad thinks that Evergreen bit his tail, so he separated Evergreen from Hermes and Acorn. Should I take them to the vet? Are there any treatments I can do on them right now?

Yes, separation is highly recommended. Do you have a picture of the patch? Sometimes they'll extend their legs when "standing", you should be able to see it clearly.

Diffenantly sounds to me that they are getting aggressive towards one another or territorial issues are arising. lololol Steve, well you are overseeing the forums alone at the moment it seems I checked the moderators last log ins and scoped around the site so of course it is expected that you could overlook something not meaning to. They have not been on for a year and some of them more now. A check every 6 months on all links at least may be good procedure, just recommending is all.

Thanks. But however I try, I just can't get Evergreen to stick his leg out. And he's just getting more and more aggressive! Today I put him in Hermes' and Acorn's tank because his is really dirty,and I saw him biting at Acorn's head!!!!!! Luckily no damage was inflicted. Is there anything I can do about him?

Sadly, turtles won't stop at their aggressive behavior and sometimes they will single out a turtle for abuse. They should never be together again. As for gettign the leg out, maybe you need an extra pair of hands to help you out?

I strongly agree with the extra helping pair of hands. Preferably someone holding the turtle to prevent it from dropping being scared on not knowing whats going on while you work on getting the leg out gently and taking photos of the injured location. If needed, have a third party there just to get the photos so that you are gently with the leg. I doubt you need a third party but it is a safe alternative for you if you feel the need.

Hermes and Evergreen are OK now. I took Hermes to the vet and his wound is healing well. Same for Evergreen. Hermes will be fine except that his tail is just a stub.
