I'm just wondering, is it safe to house other species of turtles with an RES? Things like Maps or Painteds? Im just not sure how different they are and if they'd get along. What do you think?

RES are usually the most aggressive but there are other varieties of sliders, painteds and cooters that can be attempted.

Here's a good page to read up on the subject (specifically the "Other Similar Turtles" section):

Maps and painteds can be housed with RES provided the habitat is big enough.
