Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So I'm in yet another pet store yesterday, lookin for filters and such for a friend's tank. After discussing all that, I thought I'd ask if they carried feeder rodents. The guy said no. I said "why, is there not much demand for that sort of thing around here?" (I live in a very small town) and he says "We love animals here"... ok, what? I said "yea I've got animals at home that I love that just happen to eat other animals". He looked at me like I was some kind of savage. I don't get people sometimes.

A philosophical difference of opinion. Probably why some people look at me strangely when I say I don't feed live fish to my turtles.

Hmmm, interesting... Some people are strange that way. I think I'd be a bit squeemish about feeding live mice to anything =S But if I had a pet that ate them, I'd do it :)
I bought 3 feeder fish for my turt a few weeks ago, but got 5 because it's hard to scoop just 3 of those buggers ;) Since he's never had them before, I didn't know what he'd do with them, and I didn't want him to have too many at once. So I only put 2 in to start and put the other 3 with my aquatic plants... He ate the first 2, but I don't think I can feed him the 3 left because I've grown attached to them  *hugs the little fishies* Ah well... they might become food one day...

Sorry, I should have been more specific. My python is on frozen mice. I won't go live unless I absolutely have to because even feeders deserve to die with as little pain as possible.

What I meant was different people have different ideas on the subject. For me, it's live fish, for another person it might be any animal, living or dead.
