I found what looked like a piece of my RES's shell in the pond yesterday. Is this normal? It was the color of her shell and all and it was a thin layer of it. I have never seen this before. There was only one piece. No others.

yeah, the turtles shed their scutes on their shell, its perfectly normal

I've been finding shed scutes on the bottoms of my tanks as well from my painteds. Turtles shed their scutes (and to some degree skin) as they grow.
