General Care Discussion :: Eating on and off...

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

The smallest turtle (3.0") has gone from eating to not eating and back for the last weeks. He's been basking and swimming (like the others) as normal, but when it comes to feeding, he won't eat at all as of now. He has refused to eat for the last days and he's started to get skinny. Why does this happen?

I wonder how this can go on and off for such a long time.

You may want to have him checked out by a vet. Something could be wrong. Have you changed his diet at all?

Are the temps fluctuating at all? A healthy turtle should be able to go without eating for several days without a problem. What size are your turtles and how big is their tank? If the tank is too small for them, the little one could be getting stressed out. Does he have any other symptoms/strange behavior? What are they being fed?

The temps in my tank are pretty much the same all the time. Though it is true that the tank is getting small. They're getting fed Reptomin and veggies.

But yesterday, in some attempt to get him eating, I fed him some dried shrimp and he ate it. He actually ate the Reptomin today.
