Seeing as how my turtles have never shed, I'm not sure. I know that it is different for each turtle. High water temps can cause frequent shedding, and sometimes a fungus can be confused with shedding. If you think it is something other than normal shedding, then I'd worry, but if you really think that it's just shedding, I wouldn't worry too much. You can also post a picture!

Are you talking about shedding scutes or skin?

My Tanner's skin sheds a little bit about every two weeks - sometimes by his neck, sometimes by his limbs. Since his shell is now showing signs of shedding, it's normal growth in his case.

If it's the skin that's shedding, as long as it's a little at a time and what's shed is thin and translucent, it's just normal shedding.
My babies: Tanner (RES), MR. Prissy & Ringo (budgies), Shinju (cockatiel)

One has shed skin(?) more than once and the other hasn't shed at all? Has the one that's shedding grown more than the other one? Does the sking that's shed look wispy and transucent in the water but isn't really visible out of it? If so, it sounds like the one turtle is growing. What does his shell look like? Does it look like the scutes are beginning to lift at all?

i hope the pic helps
and yea
im talkin about shedding skin~
it's really hard to capture the flaky skin

it's clear in the pic that one is noticablly bigger than the other
the smaller one has not shed at all
the bigger one is shedding for the 2nd 'round'..?!
the bigger one is more active (escaped twice) & eats more
i always make sure the smaller one gets to eat too!!
i dont think any of them has shed scutes tho!

btw
my water temp is around 79F
maybe the basking temp is too high???
or over feeding?
i dont know

i personally HOPE that it's just normal shedding
it's nothing big
just that the smaller one has not shed at all
it's a bit weird?
or it's just that each turtle is different~....?!

My RES are always shedding some skin. One sheds more than the other despite being in the same habitat.
