Ok, so today, Willy was acting as he has been(basking all the time). But for the past couple hours, He's been sitting on the bottom of his tank. I haven't seen him go to the bottom in a week, let alone sit down there like he is. Everytime I look at him he is in a different spot, but isn't moving. If tap on the tank, and he moves. Could he be sleeping down there? If so, he's never done that before. Does this sound like a good sign, or bad?

Hard to say. It may be a good sign that he's moved around some. Any other changes?

Well, I'm sorry to report that Willy has died. I came home tonight and found him upside down on the bottom of his tank. He was a fighter, and lived longer than he should have. I did all I could for him.

How sad! Willy was such a fighter and you were doing everything that could be done. Sometimes it's just not meant to be. Take comfort in the fact that you gave him the best possible chance.

Thanks everyone!!! I do plan on getting another baby when school gets out in about a month. I just don't have time to clean everything and get it ready again. I was wondering, does anyone know of a good place to get a healthy hatchling around the Detroit area? Industrial_Girl_2000 I see that your from Farmington Hills. I'm from the Canton area. Do you know of any good places to go?

Here's a good site with a list of turtle rescue organizations. Maybe there's one near you.

I am so sorry for your loss!

After my first turtle passed away, Industrial_Girl_2000 met me at a petstore and helped pick out Rascal who is doing excellent! We went to a store in Roseville called SeaWorld. Our biggest concerns were how they were kept and signs of growth.

If you would like to adopt a RES I know there is a reptile rescue in MI. I think it is in Bay City.

Good luck!
