General Care Discussion :: question?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Fri Jun 15, 2007 3:43 pm   question?

i have had tango since november. she was pretty tiny so i am sure fairly young/hatchling. since then she has grown quite a bit (from 1.5 - 3.5inch shell). but whenever either me or my partner go into the where tangos tank is, she totally freaks out and by that i mean just swims against the glass near the surface of the water and just splashes and keeps doing it. as you move along the tank she follows the direction your going. is that normal?

i love this forum, but when i come here i turn into a neurotic
parent and question everything lil thingwith my turtle. i dont think tango is old enough to be laying eggs or is she? i dont know we joke around she wanting to escape but when i read something about turtles with eggs constantly want to get out... makes me wonder.

Just begging for food! Tango knows that you are the provider of tasty treats. :)

Totally normal behavior.

well then tangos one persistent bitch (but i love her).

i have some questions about her shell too (the 'marginal' section of the carapace has always sorta been smooth and rounded edges but lately it is looking less even and almost jagged looking.. but i will post pics before asking questions on that)

thx kristin. you always minimize my paranoid parent complex.

The marginal scutes are looking jagged? If so, has your turtle been growing? Without a pic, I'm guessing that the scutes are growing and the older scutes are being pushed out by the ones underneath, which will create a jagged effect.

A pic of the shell dry would be helpful, though.
