Habitat - Indoor :: Why do I have blue/ green water?

I have had my turtle for a year (Leo) and have always had a hard time achieving the perfect home for him. He's now living in a 55 gallon tank and he loves it! However, he's been growing this white fungus around him due to not being able to get out of the water. I fixed that by soaking him in a very small amount of iodine and salt water and getting him a rock that fits his fat body! I noticed it the other day again, so I soaked him and changed maybe 10 gallons of his water (about 25 in the tank). A few hours after I changed it, Leo's water turned a blueish/ green color and has stayed that way for a few days now. I don't know why or what to do about it. Could this have something to do with Ph levels? Has anyone had this problem? I recently moved into a new house and this is the first time that I've used the tap water here. I am also nervous that he may have some type of parasite or something that is effecting the water quality? Any ideas?

you say he hasnt been able to get out of the water. does he have a basking area? you might want to try a water conditioner. have you tested the water?

No, it is not some parasite
Your numbers are most liekly not normal
Do you use water conditioner?

When you soaked Leo, did you rinse all the mixture off of him before putting him back into the tank?

Welcome to the forum. How big is Leo (shell length without the curve)? Is the rock abrasive at all? Even if it doesn't appear to be, Leo could wear his shell if he has to rub his plastron on it to get on top. Plus the rock is taking up room in the tank. Consider getting/making a basking area that's easy to get on and allows for swimming underneath.

I'm not sure about the water color, but wonder if it has something to do with what you soaked him in or possibly some kind of algae. How often do you clean the tank and change the water? When was the last time you did so?

He is able to get out of the water now, he had a smaller rock and he was too big for it so he wasn't able to properly get out. I got him a larger rock and he gets out fine now. He's probably 8-9 inches long. I used to use a chlorine reducer for the water but I didn't do that this time. I didn't rinse the solution off of him, but I never have and this has never happened to the water before. I was thinking it might have something to do with the algea but there is no visible algae so I am not sure what to think. He's only been in this tank for a few weeks so this is the first time I've cleaned it. He has an undergravel filter and another filter attached to the side. Thanks for your help guys!
