Habitat - Indoor :: New Tank

Well i went and picked up my free tank today... no where near as big as they told me it was.. they said it was a 75-90 gallon. But who would complain with free?

It is actually 56 gallon column tank, Common for Reef setups.. Demensions are 30x18x24... very unique in size, but it fits great and will give the new guys plenty of swimming room, and it matches the rest of the dinning room that the turtles live in...

and this is the other Free setup that i inherited with the RES old couple


you can see its got plenty of more room length wise for there tank to grow. So the 135 Gallon i ordered for them should fit in that spot perfect, Its 2 feet longer and will be just before the trim of the doors to the livingroom.

There current 80 gallon will then go in the last remaing corner of the Dinning room and house one of the YBS as they get bigger...

The Real Question is can anyone eat with 4 turtles watching them from all side?

Ill toss up some pics of the little guys tomorrow we already picked them out, they are just waiting at my local Herp Shop untill i had there home squared away... i still need to pick up there dock and basking lamp..

Will this be too deep for a baby YBS? they will have a floating log and couple of small docks to land on but will they be able to use all this deepth right away?

I'm going to start the water out much shallower and work it up, but has anyone had a problem with baby sliders having too deep of water?

Wez -- Sliders are very good swimmers. If they are healthy let them go. They just have to know where the surface is for eating and basking.

awsome just wasnt sure... the Herp Guy does take good care of his reptiles he sells but unlike the owner he cant afford a large tank for each turtle that is up for sale.
so they were not in a ton of water more of a display case with enough water to swim and eat but not escape attention of a possibal buyer...

Finnaly took a real measurment.. its acctually 30x18x30 so its 70 gallons, im alot happier now finding that out.
i can't find the brand who made it anyware on the tank or stand i know its a few years old. I've seen a few other people with the same size tanks, they just seem rare...

eaitherway its a perfect turtle tank.i would think it should hold most adult males great with more acctual swimming room than most larger 75 tanks when its done because of the depth... looking for anyone who sells this size now cant seem to find any.
