Habitat - Indoor :: Tank idea

Ok so I just came up with a brilliant idea. I have my RES Rolo living in a 45 gallon rubbermaid container that she loves (untill she grows out of it) but the problem with them is they tend to melt under lamps and water heaters. SO what if you get some Plexie Glass and line the inside of the tank with it? it will keep it from melting and possibly help insulate it ( i found that rubbermaid containers let heat escape which isn't good in my area where temps can drop dangerously low) Also, it might possibly be easier to clean if you make it so you can take it out. I'm going to try this but I want to know what you guys think of it!

well sounds liek a good idea but if your going to do that then why not just get rid of the rubbermaid and make a tank out of the plexiglass?

I think that you'll just be adding more pressure to the sides of the rubbermaid and increasing the chances of a leak.
I have one of my turtles in a rubbermaid storage bin until I can upgrade him, and I've had no issues with them melting.
You can buy a heater guard if you're worried about the heater, and the lights shouldn't be shining directly on the sides, so I'm not sure how you'd be generating enough heat to melt the container. If your bulb is that strong I feel like it's be heating the water up too much as well.
To insulate my rubbermaid tank, I have it sitting on a towel and a giant trashbag (that's also in case it springs a leak). At night, I cover the top of it to minimize heat loss through evaporation. I've been able to keep the water temp pretty stable that way.
